Journal app
In iOS 17.2 comes a new application that we have been waiting for for some time: the Diary application. This application offers “a unique space to relive your small and big moments”. It is an application in which you can write whatever comes to mind, whether it’s special events or everyday things. It’s literally a classic journal you can write in, but it adds more advanced features, like the ability to save photos, music, workouts, or even voice notes.
A new way to enjoy special moments and save your memories.
You can record the most important moments to return to them over time
New widgets
One of the surprises of iOS 17.2. Apple included Very interesting new widgets for the Clock app and the Weather app. Apple had never talked about it so no one expected it, but they are welcome.
- New Weather widgets. We have three new little widgets: Sunrise & Sunset, Daily Forecast, and Details. Each offering more information than before.
- New Clock widget. Apple has included a white digital clock with the second hand detail in moving lines.
What’s new in Apple Music
Apple ha Apple Music much improved in iOS 17 And in this update we also find very notable improvements in the Music application on iPhone. Here are the new features released in iOS 17.2:
- Favorite Apple Music Playlist– We now have a new playlist of songs marked as favorites.
- New concentration filter: In Focus Modes, we can now create one with a filter that prevents the music you listen to from influencing the recommendations, ideal if you leave your iPhone with someone to listen to music.
News in messages
Messages is another of the applications that includes the most new features in iOS 17.2some of them improve those we already saw in the initial version of iOS 17. Here are the improvements we will find:
- Check contacts in Messages. Contact verification is designed in such a way that journalists, activists, government officials and other users can verify the identity of the person they are chatting with. In other words, it is designed to avoid chatting with fake contacts.
- Reactions with stickers. For many years we have been able to react to messages by holding down the button, this is one of the many tricks of iMessage, and with iOS 17.2 the Add Sticker option now seems to react with any sticker or emoji.
- Messages in iCloud. The Settings > Your Profile > iCloud > Show All section has been renamed to “Messaging in iCloud”. It now shows the total amount of storage occupied by messages, the number of messages synced to iCloud, and the time of the last sync. There is also a “Sync Now” option to force an update.
Change the sound and vibration of a default notification
In iOS 17.2, Apple added an option that allows users change the sound and vibration of a default notification. This is the first time iOS has allowed users to change the notification sound used by most apps.
While it is true that there are applications that allow you to change the sound of notifications, such as WhatsApp, many others do not offer this customization and use a default sound that we have not been able to modify. Now in iOS 17.2 we have a new option in Settings > Sounds & Vibrations > Default notifications which allows you to change the vibration and tone of these notifications.
iPhone 15 Pro action button
The new action button on the iPhone 15 Pro is capable of doing a lot of things and starting with iOS 17.2, Apple will add new functions. Users will be able to choose an option to translate the contentwhen you tap on it, a window will appear to translate spoken text.
Space video
The bone iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17.2 will be able to capture “spatial video” to be able to play content in 3 dimensions in the Apple Vision Pro, which will be launched in early 2024 in the United States. A very interesting function for creating memories that we can relive later almost in the first person.
Siri improvements
Although big Siri improvements are expected with iOS 18 and artificial intelligence, in iOS 17.2 Apple added two new features to Siri. Now you can say to yourself estimated time of arrival when using Apple Maps and tells you your current altitude. Not bad.
Improvements to sensitive content warnings
iOS 17 arrives with a new feature that blocks certain unsolicited and explicit content. Apple has decided to improve this function in iOS 17.2, which is now extended to stickers and contact posters, which will also be hidden in case the content is not suitable.
