Months ago, Google shut down Android Beam, an Android file-sharing system for NFC communication. This would mean the end of being able to share files offline. They knew that Google was working on the "Airdrop for Android" version originally called Quick assignment and that a few days ago it was renamed Nearby Sharing.
The launch of this work is fast approaching, and it's because XDA Developers have been able to access work that will soon come to Android via APK Teardown: the kind of explosive view of the latest Android beta where they used hidden code that is not yet available. And to test how it works, they showed you in the video.
"Airdrop for Android" is not yet submitted and already has a new name
We know that for several months Google has been working on Airdrop for Android, and unless it is revealed it already has a new name.
How this sharing method will work: «Airdrop for Android»
Airdrop, with one of the iPhone's special features.
One of the most popular features of iOS users is Airdrop, a function that lets you easily transfer files between Apple devices without the need for them to be connected to the Internet. And it's a very envious feature by Android manufacturers: that's why we've seen suggestions like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, in addition to other Samsung applications.
The most important of all is what Google does, and it seems it won't depend on Android, but that will be part of Google Play services, which will make a simple Google app update (this is where the function is hidden).
And how does it work? On XDA Developers were able to test it because of a series of tools with which they were able to access the encrypted application code. To test their performance they have transferred files from Pixel 4 to Pixel 2 XL.
We like the good look it has, as it's fast, easy to use, and if you're using technology like Wi-Fi Direct, it doesn't use cellular data. Has a series of errors, but it's normal as Google hasn't released a beta version yet. However, it seems that this work is much closer than before.
