Virtually every iPhone user has used Apple Pay at one time or another. It is a form of carry our bank cards on the phone and be able to pay with them securely in person or online.
However, it is possible that at some point we have inadvertently made a payment, been scammed or hacked, although the latter option is practically impossible. If something like this happened to you, you should know that it is very easy to start the procedure to claim your moneyalthough the process depends on the bank.
Unlikely, but not impossible
When you make a payment with Apple Pay, it’s saved in the Wallet app. To access it, you just need to search for it on your iPhone. Once inside you will need to select the card you paid with and you will see the most recent charges. Choose the one for which you want to report an incident.
You will see a message appear in blue inviting you to contact your bank. In my case, it says Qonto, a neobank, but it will be the one that issued the card you used. Just click on it and you’ll get the form that your bank provided to Apple for this type of incident. All you have to do is call, give your contact details and the bank will do it
What will happen next is that the bank will take your data, and if the case allows it, they will initiate a process called “chargeback”. It is a procedure in which they will ask the bank of the company in which you have paid return of funds. If you’re right, they’ll (usually) get it back, and if not, no.
If it is an unauthorized payment, the claim process is the same, although in this case your bank will be responsible for returning the money. The first 50 dollars will be debited from your account
Anyway, the important thing is that Apple Pay is a very secure payment method. Like everyone, has its weak points, and it’s good to know what to do in the unlikely event that someone manages to exploit them and cause you financial harm. We hope you never have to use the information in this article, but if you do, chances are you’ll be fine.
