Like almost everyone, I also like to watch movies and series frequently. The experience couldn’t be better: mini LED TV, Apple TV 4K and HomePod. However, I have a problem, and it is the one that, to a greater or lesser extent, we all have unless you have set up a professional sound system at home: high-level effects.
It doesn’t happen every time, but it’s certainly not the first time during a movie that you have to turn the volume up or down between scenes. Sometimes the low dialogue parts force us to increase it, but then comes a sound effect and it must be reduced so as not to disturb the neighbors. So again and again. It’s something that does not allow us to completely disconnect
No more fiddling with the remote throughout the movie
In order to avoid this situation where you kind of have to choose between watching your movie without constantly worrying about the sound and not disturbing your neighbors, Apple TV comes with a very nice feature for that. It is very easy to activate and does not require any special configuration.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > Audio & Video > Reduce Loud Sounds and enable the option. As simple as that. From now on, scenes with loud audio effects won’t sound as loud and scenes with only dialogue won’t sound as soft. So you can enjoy your movie in peace without worrying about waking someone up.
If you are lucky enough to have a soundproof room or if you have no neighbors to disturb, we do not recommend activating this feature. After all, it distorts sound, compresses it and it doesn’t sound like the director wanted it to sound. However, for the vast majority this is not an option – at least at night – and this feature is surely the best thing they have for them.
