It will be next Tuesday, May 21, when Max officially arrives in USA. It’s the heir to HBO Max and it brings a good part of what this other one offered, even if technically it is a new platform. It was born after the merger of Warner and Discovery and presents certain new elements which are worth knowing.
We already told you HBO Max will cease to exist and with it its projects. It doesn’t matter which one you had, unless it was the one from the lifetime promotional offer that HBO Max had when it arrived in USA. In this article we review everything you will be interested in knowing about this “new” rival to Apple TV+ and which, of course, will be fully available on your Apple devices.
What are Max’s prices?
Max’s plans in USA are different from those in the United States and other countries. For example, here we do not have a plan with advertisementsalthough there are two plans with different resolutions, in addition to the fact that both prevent account sharing.

As you may have noticed, there is a third plan called the “Sports Supplement,” but it’s not really a plan. As its name suggests, it is a supplement and which must be linked to one or the other of the two regimes.
What if you had HBO Max first?
Even though it is a new platform, Max will retain subscribers who had HBO Max without price change and identical features. They will continue to pay 9.99 dollars per month, although technically it will not be the standard package they have, since they will continue to enjoy 4K and will not be limited to 1080p as will happen to new subscribers who opt for this package. At least that’s what was confirmed to us by the platform.
Those who took advantage of the HBO Max “forever” promotion will keep it, but there won’t be a similar new promotion for newcomers to Max
The lifetime offer is also preserved with which HBO Max arrived in our country a few years ago. An offer that always keeps the price at half and in this case it will be 4.99 dollars. If tomorrow the basic plan increases, that too, but still by half. Of course, if you unsubscribe, you will lose this promotion.
Likewise, we can say that a new application will need to be installed. If you have HBO Max, it will continue to serve you until May 21, but from that day on you will have to download a new one from the App Store which is called, to the surprise of some, “Max “. In it, you will need to log in with the same credentials as you used in HBO Max.
Max: Stream HBO, TV and Movies
It’s all here. Iconic series, award-winning films, local productions and entertainment for the whole family, with the worlds of Harry Potter, the DC universe, Discovery and HBO.
How to sign up for Max and which Apple devices it’s offered on
If you never had HBO Max or unsubscribed, you will need to fill out a new registration which must be done via the web no matter what device you use. Even if it is not possible to do so before May 21, you will have to go to the Max website.
I have to say that You can also rent it from operators like Vodafone, Movistar and Orange. They are, at least for now, the only Spanish companies to offer television packages that include this streaming platform in the same way as they offered HBO Max.
Then, once you subscribe, you will be able to enjoy Max content on the same devices as HBO Max. In other words, you can benefit from it via the app on iPhone, iPad and Apple TVwhile on Mac it will be via the web. If you have a mobile phone or TV with Android you will also have an application, but on a Windows PC it will be, as in macOS, via the web.
What catalog does Max have?
Basically, this will bring the same as HBO Max, Discovery+ additions and new original content. Thus, we will find successful HBO series like ‘Game of Thrones’ or the sequel to ‘The House of the Dragon’, as well as other already legendary series like ‘Friends’ or ‘Big Bang Theory’. Of course, also films like the “Harry Potter” saga.
Precisely the latter gives cake to a new reboot of the ‘Harry Potter’ series coming in 2025 with new characters. Each volume will be a season of the series and they will try to be as faithful as possible to JK Rowling’s novels. Also other series derived from “Game of Thrones” like “The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” being a prequel to this one.
Sport will also play a leading role., particularly this summer with the Paris Olympics. In the sports complement, you will be able to follow the linear channels of Eurosport 1 and 2, including various sports championships such as the tennis and cycling Grand Slams or the 24 hours of Le Mans.
