The possible spring event is approaching, the first of the year, in which we could see new Macs, what would they be and why should you not buy any of the existing models?
We are just a few days away from the end of February and spring is just around the corner. This means that we would be about to see a new Apple event even if nothing is confirmed yet. Rumor has it that new iPads will be seenespecially the new generation of iPad Pro with OLED and a new iPad Air. The M3 chip would be present in both iPads but it should also be remembered that 4 months have passed since the launch of the first MacBook Pro with this chip
It’s likely that new Macs will be seen this spring, although it’s not very common
At the end of October 2023 we witnessed the premiere of the M3 series and the first lucky device to come out was the MacBook Pro. If those in Cupertino wait for WWDC to present a new generation of chips, it will be very strange to launch new devices with an M3 chip. The only chip left to present would be the M3 Ultra.
New MacBook Air with M3 chip will most likely be launchedis the input equipment that would need to be updated since it is currently sold with an M2 chip. The latter device was launched in July 2022 in a 13-inch version and the 15-inch model was not launched until June 2023.. No major design changes are expected beyond the pure chip update.
Another “forgotten” model is the Mac mini which was updated in January 2023. Maybe it can be updated with an M3 since a year and a month have passed until that date and We can even see a Mac mini reinforced with an M3 Pro.
Design changes also not expected in the Mac mini, so new specifications could only be expected with the new chip. Oddly enough, the Mac mini is almost 14 years old with its current design. Would a design change be a good thing?
Which Mac should I not buy now?
Those mentioned above should now not be in any buyer’s orbit., the two 13- and 15-inch MacBook Airs and the Mac mini. Going from an M2 to an M3 is a big jump regardless of the performance it can offer. This means having more time for OS updates, like 1 or 2 years. depending on the cycle that Apple will give since the creation of Apple Silicon
The only laptop that could be purchased without waiting for new releases is the MacBook Pro. Other devices that will not be updatedsince they were only launched last November, These are the iMacs. If you are looking for an ideal desktop for daily tasks with excellent performance and also a colorful style, there is no other option than the latter.
Other devices we probably won’t see at this possible spring event will be the Mac Studio and Mac Pro.. Recall that the last big changes to macOS and the Mac lineup took place at WWDC, so it’s more possible to see new changes to these devices at Apple’s developer event.
