there are more and more iPhone applications which, although downloadable for free, charge us a subscription to be able to use them. These recurring payments can be monthly, yearly and even bi-weekly or weekly. They are very legal and legal, of course, but sometimes we are careless and they end up charging us without us already using the app.
The good news is that the vast majority of these apps allow you to benefit from a free period, even if they have a trap. And once this period has expired, we will be billed for the use of the application. It is therefore advisable to cancel this payment before it takes place and without this preventing us from taking advantage of the test. We’ll tell you how to do it.
As soon as you start the trial period, cancel your subscription
Unless you are completely sure that you can benefit from subscribing to the application, It is recommended to always cancel it as soon as the trial period begins.. Because? Well, because this way you avoid that if you don’t like the app they will charge you after passing this grace period. Apart from that, they allow you to continue enjoying the trial period even if you cancel it.
To do this, simply follow these simple steps:
- Open “Settings” on your iPhone.
- Tap your name, which appears at the top of the settings panel.
- Go to the “Subscriptions” section.
- Now click on the name of the application you just subscribed to.
- Click “Cancel Subscription” or “Cancel Free Trial” (in the latter case, the trial is not actually canceled).
- Confirm the action.
Once this is done, the subscription expiration date will appear in the section of this application, which is none other than the expiration date of the trial period. Until then, you can continue to use it normally. AND If at the end you change your mind and want to subscribe for a fee, you will always be in time to do it. Of course, there is no trial period, since this possibility is only assigned once and if you have already taken advantage of it, you only have to pay (unless the developer launches sporadically an offer).
And what happens if you subscribed by mistake?
Not that accidentally subscribing to an app is the easiest, since it’s notified multiple times and requires identification with Face ID/Touch ID. However, it can happen to anyone, due to rush or otherwise, to not read well and end up subscribing and paying. In these cases, Apple offers the possibility of requesting a refund of the subscription.
This is very easy to manage via iPhone browser (or from another device if you prefer). It all involves going to reportaproblem.apple.com. There you must log in with your Apple ID, point to the application with which you encountered the problem and in the drop-down menu that appears, choose the option to request a refund.
You will be asked to explain your reasons for making the request, with the predefined option of “I bought it by mistake.” After this period, there will be a period of approximately one week during which Apple will study the case and give you a response. It’s usually pretty quick and usually the next day you already have the answer in your email. And if they finally accept the return, you have between 2 and 7 working days for this to be reflected in your bank account.
