Since Microsoft abandoned the Windows Phone project, its priority has been clear: to support Android and provide support to improve the experience of all users with a Windows computer and an Android mobile, which are numerous. Although this bet has not always been successful, as with the Android emulator for Windows, other functions are extremely useful, such as the Mobile Link application.
With Mobile Link it is now possible to transfer photos from your mobile phone to your computer without having to connect cables, and open them with image editors for example. We can also receive mobile notifications on the computer and even answer phone calls if we have a microphone connected.
But the new change that Microsoft is preparing goes even further: it will allow us connect cell phone to computer wirelessly and enter your folders and files as if they were part of the system. This integration is currently being tested in File Explorer, in the latest unstable build of Windows 11 received by Windows Insider users.
With the integration of the mobile phone in File Explorer, our device will appear as if it were an SSD connected by USB, but with a special icon that will indicate that it is a smartphone. But functionally, It will be exactly the same as an external storage deviceand clicking on its icon will open the mobile memory folders.
This means that, for example, we can copy files directly to our computer, and vice versa; from photos to documents, to files that we want to use on our mobile. The potential is enormous and it is much faster than having to open the Mobile Link app on both devices to start the transfer.

In fact, this function seems independent of Mobile Link, because Enabled directly in File Explorer with a new option present in the settings; Initially, the connection is made via Bluetooth, and a new section will allow us to find our mobile phone and associate it with Explorer. When connected, the computer can display information related to the mobile, such as the amount of free storage space it has.
Since this feature is still being tested for the unstable version of Windows 11, it will probably take several months for it to reach all users. And this is not the only new feature that File Explorer will receive with this update, since it will also allow us duplicate a tab that we opened to have two tabs of the same folder, simply by right-clicking.
