TikTok and Universal Music Group maintained their collaboration through a contract whose expiration date was January 31, 2024. A few hours ago, Universal announced the cancellation of the contract with TikTok due to problems in contract extension negotiations. The main problem, as Universal Music argues, is that they have not reached agreements with TikTok regarding artist compensation or AI protection.

From Universal, they assure that “TikTok’s tactics are obvious: using the power of the platform to harm vulnerable artists”, which the social network considers unrealistic.
