In recent months we have seen how the sale of smartphones has fallen, for multiple reasons. Devices are lasting longer and users are increasingly demanding that manufacturers commit to a better upgrade policy.
Indeed, last year the market suffered a drop of no less than 20% in the last quarter of 2022.
This means that, collaterally, there are more and more people interested in buying second-hand mobiles, as the Milanuncios portal has shown in its latest figures.
A 25% increase in demand for second-hand mobiles
The popular second-hand platform has confirmed that the demand for second-hand terminals increased by 24% in the month of January compared to the same month of the previous year.
This implies that the way of acquiring terminals is starting to change significantly, partly because second-hand mobiles are still more than enough for many users, which did not happen a decade ago.
The iPhone is king
Yesterday we told you that there were only two Android phones in the top 10 bestsellers worldwide, and it seems that this disparity with the iPhone also carries over to the second hand.
In this market, according to the Milanuncios study, the iPhone accumulates a third of telephone announcements
In other words, the vast majority of people who are looking for a used mobile what they really want in a used iPhone.
On the advertising side, Apple gathers around 33%, followed by Samsung with 23% and Xiaomi with 15%.
When it comes to selling prices, there are also differences. On average, iPhones are sold 35% cheaper than the average iPhone sold in Europe, while Samsungs are sold 55% cheaper than new Samsung models, on average.
