Although with every major update Google tries to make Android a better operating system also at the design level for the general public, accessibility is an important issue because it brings technology and devices closer to the people in difficulty. Actually, It's worth taking a closer look at the accessibility settings. if you have problems with vision, hearing, mobility or if you are an elderly person and already suffer from certain conditions.
If you are of a certain age and the icons and texts on your mobile phone are difficult for you, Android has settings to change the font and icon size or the navigation mode, among others. Well, Google has stepped upA new Simple View mode that changes everything– Simply change this setting to improve the readability of the interface.
Simple View mode comes to the Google Pixel
Because among the new features of its first quarterly update of Android 15 integrated into the Pixel Drop in December 2024 will be this Simple View mode. What exactly does Simple View mode do? This feature promises to improve text readability and simplify screen layout, design, and navigation.
More precisely, What this simple display mode does is:
- change the font size from 1.0 to 1.5 points. Be careful because if your font size is already larger, Simple View will change it too.
- Change the PPP (or dots per inch) of the screen to make elements appear larger.
- Change the navigation mode with three classic buttons.
- He long press timeout increases compared to its default value (it goes from 400 to 1000 milliseconds). That is, how long do we have to touch the screen for the device to consider that we are performing a long press.
Although it is true that, as we explained in the introduction, most of these options can be changed one by one in different parts of the settings, With Simple View mode we will adapt the sweater interfacewhich also simplifies the process. And conversely: if you want the interface to return to the standard, you just need to deactivate it.
To see things more clearly, Mishaal Rahman went ahead and already has some screenshots to see the differences with Simple View mode disabled and enabled. Without going any further, below these lines you can see the difference:

As you can see, although the differences are subtle, in general Simple View mode makes it easier to read. Of course, this change doesn't affect the pages you see on the web, since Chrome has its own accessibility options. It is still a Wonderful option for people who can't see well or get choked up with technology..
To use this Simple View mode soon, you must have a Google Pixel 6 or later with the Android 15 QPR1 version installed, for which you will first need to check if you have the update available for download. Be careful because Simple View mode will not be added to AOSP, the open source version of other manufacturers, therefore For now, it will be exclusive to the Google Pixel. From there, you'll need to go to “Settings” > “Accessibility” > “Simple View” to enable the toggle.
However, we hope that this will be the case a matter of time before it eventually reaches the rest of Android, taking into account the millions of people who use this operating system through different mobile phones.
