Over the years, we’ve found that in the end, the best service an operator can offer you is one that keeps bureaucracy to a minimum. Apple laid the groundwork to help with the possibility of data plan contracts from the system’s own interface, and now Vodafone is taking advantage of this advantage with its OneNumber plans.
How to have Vodafone mobile data on your iPad without SIM or additional plan
The idea of this plan is that you don’t need to do any management beyond setting it up in iPadOS. Neither call the operator, nor wait for some kind of bureaucracy that involves the arrival of physical cards in the mail or the obligation to go to a store. The only necessary requirements are:
- Have an iPad updated to iPadOS 15.2 and with 4G or 5G connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi
- Protect this iPad with a passcode and c onnect to a Wi-Fi network, with your Apple ID correctly configured (and also on your iPhone) and with iCloud Keychain enabled everywhere
- Enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID
Once these conditions are met, all you need to do is follow the steps in the video above by going to the “Mobile Data” section in Settings on your iPad. We will click on “Add”, then on “Register now”. You will be asked to verify your phone number and the introduction of a PIN code which will arrive on the iPhone.
With this activation, you consume your iPhone’s mobile data, combining the two devices in one contract. Of course, being able to activate this service requires activate one of the OneNumber plans at the price of 5 dollars per month.
