We already have beta 4 of iOS 17.5

iOS 17.5

Apple today launched the Beta 4 of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5in addition to watchOS 10.5 and macOS 14.5, in addition to tvOS 17.5, already leaving the next update for all Apple devices almost ready for public launch.

We have now reached the final phase of iOS 17, with all the features announced almost a year ago are now available, but the new European regulations have forced to include unexpected changes, such as the possibility of adding new application stores, even from their websites. Here is the list of changes made by this latest beta version:

  1. Install apps directly from a website: This new feature had already been announced by Apple a few weeks ago. Therefore, with iOS 17.5 we will be able to install applications from the App Store, from other alternative stores accepted by Apple and also from developer websites under the function called Webcast. Of course, developers will have to agree to Apple’s rules which call for a payment of 50 cents for each annual install over one million in the last 12 months. This function will only reach the European Union.
  2. Apple Podcasts widget: The Apple Podcasts app home screen widget now has a dynamic color this changes depending on the coverage of the podcast we are listening to. Be fore, it was just a color that persisted over time.
  3. Opting out of unwanted tracking: The iOS 17.5 code introduces in its first beta intended for developers a system allowing you to deactivate tracking devices (AirTags, etc.). The operating system will detect devices even if they are not certified on the Find My network and warn the user to disable them. However, this feature has not been announced by Apple, so we understand that it will be in development.
  4. New “Repair Mode” which allows you to entrust the phone to an official technical service without having to deactivate the “Find my iPhone” option.

We also have the rest of the updates for all devices: iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, and even the Vision Pro. At the moment, these beta 4 are only available to developerswill arrive in the next few hours for public beta users.
