Even if we still wonder when the M4 chips will arrive in the Mac range, the world of rumors in Apple always goes further. Other companies already have foldable devices, like Samsung. Most of these brands have focused on the smartphone field. However, Apple has different plans.
A 14″ MacBook with a foldable, touch screen that reaches up to the keyboard
Interest in Apple’s folding displays is focused on their introduction in an upcoming version of the MacBook. If you remember, the last MacBook model was removed from the market in 2019. This device was quite a technical challenge for the time, and in fact we don’t have a Mac today with such a thin and light design, not even with the current MacBook Air M3.
Apple’s objective would be to stylishly relaunch the MacBook range with a 14″ portable Mac which would in reality be a 18.8″ screen and folds on itself. The keyboard would be entirely digital, and would surely have haptic feedback like the Apple Pencil Pro. This way it will appear as if the keys are actually being pressed even though it is actually a screen.
Furthermore, it would be first contact with Mac being able to combine the use of the screen for the keyboard and other interesting actions like scrolling a timeline in Final Cut Pro, creating music from Garageband… a completely new experience for macOS.

One of the requirements that Apple demanded when LG screen manufacturer is that you don’t want any type of crease or crease on the screen. This has big implications for the design of the panel and hinges of the foldable MacBook itself.
