We all have that family member or friend who constantly sends audios, or maybe you are that person yourself (I know I am). If you are tired of having to listen to boring audios, WhatsApp has a solution: now you can read them.
Sometimes it’s easier to explain something in audio form, or maybe you’re walking down the street and having trouble writing a l ong message. Audios are very useful in these cases, but often those who receive them find themselves in a situation where it is difficult to listen to them (at work, in class or on public transport and without headphones). This problem will now be a thing of the past, thanks to the new transcription of voice notes in WhatsApp.
This is how audio transcription works in WhatsApp
This is undoubtedly the biggest news on WhatsApp in years. I have nothing against audios, because I usually send a lot of them, but often I can’t listen to one because I’m busy or in a situation that prevents me from doing so. Reading this message would be easierespecially when we get those audios of just one or two seconds where the other person only says “it’s okay.” Why do they do this?
Now WhatsApp allows you to transcribe audios, you no longer have to listen to them, you can read them. This feature has been available in the iOS beta for about a year, but has now debuted on Android, directly in the final version of the app; You don’t need to have the beta version to use it
What you need is access to Meta AI; During our tests, we were only able to use audio transcription in WhatsApp accounts with access to Meta AIwhich means that, at least for now, it is not possible to officially access this tool in Europe. However, it is available for Android devices in Latin America and the United States.
To access the audio transcription, we follow these steps:
- We retain the audio message that we wish to transcribe
- Click the three-dot button in the upper right corner
- We select ‘Transcribe‘
The first time we use this tool we will have to select the language in which the audio will be transcribed and download the necessary files.
And that’s it, you can now transcribe audio messages to text on Android. Now we have two options: we can listen to this voice note that was sent to us, or we can read it. It is undoubtedly a tool that we have been waiting for for a long time and that will become part of our daily life when using the application.
