The arrival of smartphones and the evolution of vehicles have gone almost hand in hand, allowing our mobiles and cars can be compatible with each other and take advantage of certain functions that the vehicle normally does not have. In this way, systems such as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto have emerged, which we are going to talk about in this post.
And that’s it, Android Auto is now available for more than 500 cars. Therefore, we think it is more than convenient to review the main features of this system and, of course, to comment on which cars are compatible with this system.

What is Android Auto?
Android Auto is Google’s solution to integrate our Android device into our compatible vehicle. It has been working since 2014, and it has a fairly simple and intuitive interface, which is combined with voice commands which minimize the driver’s physical contact with the vehicle panel itself.
This solution provides us with information about the notifications we receive, allows us to use Google Maps, listen to our music and respond to messages using our voice. The main objective is to being able to interact with our phone without having to touch itminimizing distracted driving.
We can say that Android Auto also has (or had) a mobile app, allowing us to have a similar driving interface on the smartphone. However, Google is officially removing it to integrate all of its features into the Google Assistant driving mode.
To use Android Auto, you must a compatible vehicle or device (Alpine, Pioneer or Sony have compatible radios), plus an Android device running version 5.0 Lollipop and higher. Having said in-vehicle compatibility, just download the Android Auto app and start using it.
At the time of making the connection, we can do it wireless or via USB cable to connect your mobile to the car. Android Auto works both in the interface of our mobile and adapts to the panel of our car.
Android Auto compatible cars
Currently Android Auto is compatible with more than 400 vehicles. Some companies such as Acura (Honda), Holden, Buick or Holden are not officially marketed in Europe, but we leave you the complete list of vehicles, brand by brand, because if your device is compatible and one of these vehicles is imported, Android Auto will still work.
