Losing a million users in Europe is a shame for the interests of the platform, but not for cybercriminals who find great luck in the Dark Web. According to what they say from Check Point Research, the presence of many companies of Netflix subscription sales.
Shared accounts have been the before and after for millions of users in Europe since payment through the platform was announced in the first months of the year. A fact that led to the loss of 2.5 million Netflix subscribers in the country.
According to Check Point, one of the world’s leading cybersecurity solution providers, in announcing a ‘efficiency of access and total legitimacy’ on Telegram there are affiliate channels that offer access to the Premium plan
The problem with everything is that these accounts are linked to cybercrime, so you’re really dealing with some Compromised or Compromised Account Credentials. Thanks to this, an account can be sold at an almost ridiculous price for the Netflix premium plan which allows access to four devices at the same time, Ultra HD playback, downloading content on six devices and the possibility of adding two additional subscribers who are not at home.
Check Point Software gives a series of recommendations to secure Netflix accounts and these don’t end up in the hands of cybercriminals; quite the opposite of the measures taken by the platform to limit access to these shared accounts.
Tips for protecting an account
The first, and which can be applied to any account used for phones or web access, is the minimum length that must be between 14 and 16 characters
Another recommendation, as NordPass does, is to forget the use of personal data in order to easily remember the password, such as using proper names, family members or birthdays. The rule is simple: if it is easy for you to remember, it is also easy for the cybercriminal.
