WhatsApp announced its new feature chat lock through a post on his official blog accompanied by an explanatory video with a song that suits him like a glove. It is an option for protect and lock chats in a separate folder accessible by password or biometrics on our device.

This new folder protects all the chats that we want to keep hidden from people’s view and is located just above the Archived folder. The chat lock does not only include the folder but rather a series of measures to protect the confidentiality of a conversation hosted in this folder: when a conversation stored in the locked folder speaks to us chat content is automatically hidden in notifications sent by WhatsApp.

The mechanism for protecting a conversation is very simple. Just go to the chat profile and click Block.
