Although WhatsApp is the reference instant messaging service in many countries, including Europe, the ambitions of this application go further. Like other Meta apps, WhatsApp has been extended with more social networking features, such as WhatsApp statuses.

The next step will clearly show that WhatsApp can become an alternative to Twitter and even Facebook. Launching Communities can dramatically change the way we interact with complete strangers in the app, with whom we only have a common hobby or interest.
WhatsApp Communities
The new WhatsApp communities will allow you to find groups and users who talk about specific topics in one place. By forming a community, we will be able to manage several groups from a single site, in addition to creating new groups that deal with different topics.
Although development is not yet complete, judging by what WhatsApp has come up with, communities will be similar to Discord groups, in the sense that each group will be independent with its own conversation, but we will be able to send messages that will reach all members of the Community, whether or not they participate in the same group. Additionally, creating a default community will create an announcement group, where admins can post messages for all users.
Soon we will be able to know more, since WABetaInfo revealed that WhatsApp is already testing communities with early adopters; specifically, the new section has reached the latest beta version of the WhatsApp application, so only if we are registered will we have a chance to see it, but even then it is unlikely, because it seems to be a limited test.
WhatsApp Communities will appear as a new button, next to the Chats tab. From here we can create our own community, adding groups and users. At this time, it is possible to add up to 10 groups, and each of these, called “sub-groups”, is capable of accommodating up to 512 participants. Each person who joins the Community you can choose which subgroups to participate in, depending on your preferences; the big difference is that leaving a subgroup does not mean leaving the Community altogether.
WhatsApp wants these Communities to be made up of people who do not follow each other on WhatsApp and for this reason it is working on hide phone numbers subgroup participants.
At this time, it is unknown when WhatsApp Communities will reach all users.
