However, creating your own stickers was not an easy task, as you had to use third-party apps to do so, import them, and in many cases delete the old pack so you don’t accumulate outdated sticker packs. . Which has been an unbearable roll. Fortunately, the latest version of WhatsApp for iPhone finally allows users to easily create your own stickers for app from your own gallery photos.
As WABetaInfo announced, the new feature was quietly introduced with version 23.3.77 of WhatsApp for iOS, which is now available on the App Store. With this update, users can easily choose any of their photos to convert directly into a WhatsApp sticker. However, all that glitters is not gold. We have a problem.
Contrary to what some users might expect, there is no clear interface to create a sticker pack. Instead, WhatsApp has integrated its stickers feature into the new iOS 16 API. which separates the subject of a photo when using the drag-and-drop gesture. What does that mean? That, although they are registered in the application, we won’t have our “own” sticker pack created in WhatsApp but every time we want to create a sticker from one of our photos we will have to do the following:
- Open the Photos app on your iPhone
- choose a picture
- Touch and hold the subject that you want to turn into a sticker (in the same way as if you had to separate it from the background for any other action)
- Drag and drop it in a WhatsApp conversation
Once this is done, WhatsApp will ask you if you want to convert this photo into a sticker. Of course, since this feature is based on detecting subjects in images that was introduced with iOS 16, You cannot use older versions of iOS to create WhatsApp stickers. In addition, we must take into account that this is a feature that, as always, WhatsApp is rolling it out little by little in users who already have this version of their application, so if you don’t have it, it will be available for you soon.
Notably, iMessage and Telegram also let you create stickers from your photos using the same method.
