Multi-device WhatsApp is very close
We have known for a long time that WhatsApp is preparing a new multi-device mode that will allow us to use the application on several devices at the same time. Until now, using the same WhatsApp account on two different smartphones was an impossible taskconnecting to one would close the other.
However, this new mode will allow link up to 4 devices to our WhatsApp account, so we can have WhatsApp on a tablet or smartphone, in addition to our main device. And now, this feature has just reached the beta version for Android, indicating that its launch is very close.
After linking your WhatsApp account to a device, smartphone or tablet, your chat history will be synced across all your linked devices. Please note that you can connect up to 4 devices at a time, so you can also connect more than two smartphones to your WhatsApp account.

Also, everyone messages and calls will remain end-to-end encrypted even if we use a device linked to our main smartphone. When someone sends you a message, it will be sent to all your devices so the encryption is always preserved.
Right now it’s a function that is only available in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android and only for a certain number of users. Hopefully, before it is released to all users, this feature will also make its way to the iOS beta. So don’t expect a release soon, it could take several months to be ready.
