One of the most anticipated series of the whole year 2024 has finally been broadcast on Apple TV+: “The Lords of the Air” is an ambitious production which has behind it Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, who also produced ‘Blood Brothers’ and ‘Le Pacifique’, two of the highest-rated series in television history.
The series follows the men of the 100th Bombardment Group, known as the Bloody Hundredth. This team was tasked with standing up to Nazi Germany, facing the most extreme weather conditions and the terror of combat at over 7,500 meters above sea level. But every effort was necessary to put an end to the horror of the Third Reich that Hitler was implanting in a dying Europe.
Airbenders, the most ambitious series on Apple TV+
Having Amblin Television, Spielberg’s production company, behind us is enough to ensure that we will find a high-level television product. But as if that wasn’t enough, we have in the main cast several Oscar nominees such as Austin Butler —for the Elvis biopic—, Barry Keoghan —for “Saltburn”— and a handful of emerging stars such as Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann and Rafferty Law.
And you just have to remember the careers that followed: “Blood Brothers” marked a before and after in the careers of actors like Damian Lewis, who would later become world famous for “Homeland” and “Billions”.
“The Airbenders” was created on Apple TV+ – not to be confused with Apple TV –, Apple’s streaming platform that you can also watch on your Android mobile or tablet. Last Friday, January 26, the first two episodes arrived, with a breathtaking pilot. Every Friday, until March 15, chapters will be released until the end of this standalone season.
The series is based on the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller -a successful English writer and rigorous historian-, and has a screenplay adapted by John Orloff, screenwriter of some episodes of “Blood Brothers” and responsible for its adaptation. to film works such as “Ga’Hoole: The Legend of the Guardians” or to write her award-winning film “An Invincible Heart”, the film which earned Angelina Jolie a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of the true story of journalist Mariane Pearl.
