On February 14, Youtube turned 17 and his development team wondered if it was time to give him a little makeover to celebrate. Eight months later, and after collecting suggestions from thousands of viewers, Google announces the new YouTube interface.
From today comes Youtube innovations in the interface to bring to our devices a cleaner and more lively designwhich will come with new features that improve the way we watch videos.
“Ambilight” arrives in its new black theme
The dark theme first came to YouTube for Android
To provide users with an interface more modern and immersiveYouTube brings with its new dark theme its new ambient mode. This is a virtual “Ambilight”, showing a light effect which sends soft colors from the video to the background of the mobile screen, thus realizing that new immersive experience when we use the mobile with the dark theme.
This dynamic color effect will also be present in the renewed playlists, adding a cover image for the playlist alongside this light effect. Additionally, playlists will now show more details.
New Player Changes
YouTube makes the viewing window more pleasing to the eye. For instance, YouTube links in video descriptions will be replaced with buttons. Frequent actions like likes, shares, and downloads will be formatted to minimize distractions. The subscription button is also redesigned with a new shape and high contrast, which although it is no longer red, it will stand out even more to make it easier to find and more accessible.
More features
After going through its test phase a few weeks ago, YouTube is launching its new zoom. From today you can enlarge videos up to 8 times. All you have to do is pinch the screen to enlarge the video, and once enlarged you can move around the video to frame the area you want to see larger.
Another feature that was also tested a few weeks ago and is now starting to hit all users is the new precise search. To find the exact moment of a video, just drag the red play point up to see a thumbnail timeline. This way you will be able to locate the frame where that moment of the video you are looking for takes place.
