As you can imagine, macOS is a particularly closed operating system. The operating system, was designed for Apple devices. So for the company, it just doesn’t make sense that these are third-party products. Fortunately for some, the Hackintosh community exists to prove that a macOS PC is possible.
Thanks to the community, over the years different ways have been created to bring macOS to other computers. In fact, there are configurations specially designed for this purpose. However, today it is an experience that goes further. A laptop, closer to a PDA
A YouTuber named Ike T. Sanglay Jr. designed this PC with a setup that, while not particularly powerful, seems to be sufficient for Big Sur. Specifically, you used a LattePanda Alpha SBC card with Intel Core m3 chip, 8 GB RAM, 240 GB SSD, and an Arduino Leonardo microcontroller. Something that, combined with a 3D printed case, screen, cables, keyboard and fan, gave birth to this device.
As the video shows, Ike manages to install macOS Big Sur. However, it’s not particularly clear how optimal the performance is. In fact, it seems that some interface elements do not work properly. But the truth is, it’s a prime example of the possibilities offered by hardware today.
Apple, on the other hand, continue on your way to outrun Intel. A path which, in a few months, according to rumors, should lead them to launch new laptops. And, while it’s impressive to see this laptop, the truth is, it’s a bit far from a MacBook Pro.
