When it comes to microtransactions that are touted as optional, publishers often justify their business practices by stating that everything that is sold can be unlocked for free by taking the time to play. But can a player really unlock the best elements by playing sensibly? A FIFA 21 player wanted to check this out.

The streamer and YouTubeur “ScudzTV“Visibly dissatisfied with the way Electronic Arts is communicating and its business practices, has decided to investigate claims made by the US publisher regarding the FIFA Ultimate Team and related microtransactions. According to EA, users can unlock any. Players they have want to go without going. ” through the microtransaction box, but in reality things are nowhere near as simple.
“”ScudzTV“presents his dream team on his Twitter account (a photo of the team in question is available in our gallery below). According to him, This team receives 100 million credits. And it quickly becomes clear that unlocking all the players on this team without spending money isn’t realistic. The various options that are offered require completely unreasonable or even impossible to achieve game time.
Unlock 100 million credits by playing normally:
Assume that 1,500 “coins” are unlocked per game. It would take him 66,666 games to achieve his goal. And if each game lasts an average of 20 minutes, that equates to 22,000 hours of game time or 916 game days 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Dbloquer 100 million de crdits on in-game trading:
For example, if you want to make a profit of 10,000 credits per transfer, you will need to make 10,000 transfers to meet the goal. To get 10,000 winning credits every ten minutes, 1,650 hours or 69 trading days would have to be transferred around the clock.
And if “ScudzTV“Finally making the decision to give in to the sirens of microtransactions, the amount spent would be logically insane (we have put the amounts requested by Electronic Arts directly in dollars.”ScudzTV
Unlock 100 million credits by buying FIFA Points:
Assuming a profit of 100,000 credits for every 12,000 FIFA Points purchase To receive 100 million credits, 1,000 packs of 12,000 FIFA Points must be purchased. Each pack of 12,000 FIFA points costs 99.99 dollars, a player in the same situation as “ScudzTV“would have to spend 99,990 dollars (!) to buy all 100,000 credits that the constitution of his Dream Team FUT requires.
It is therefore far from a reasonable or realistic situation. And that regardless of the strategy chosen by the player. At the time these lines are written, Electronic Arts does not have the streamer’s remarks.
What do you think of these numbers? And what do you think of Electronic Arts’ commercial policy? Should the editors review their microtransaction guidelines, or is it up to the players to make decisions? Tell us everything in the comments below.
