If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, original author George RR Martin has good news or bad news, depending on your point of view. Max does his best.
The Game of Thrones series established itself in the world of television from the first season. And it wasn’t easy, because even if there had been quality material to draw on thanks to George RR Martin’s books, the adaptation could have been utter rubbish. In the end, we had to wait until the eighth and final season for this important show to really hit its stride. Fans and viewers are still choked up, but that doesn’t mean they’ve avoided the spin-off, House of the Dragon.
Game of Thrones will occupy the Max platform for a very long time
We hope you enjoy Game of Thrones, because George RR Martin’s saga is far from over. Several books are still being written, including “The Winds of Winter,” and a play “The Iron Throne” is expected to open in London in 2025. However, given the franchise’s enormous potential, more spin-offs have been ordered to follow “House of the Dragon.” And it’s not just two additional TV shows, but seven, according to a recent statement from the Game of Thrones author.
During a writing workshop in Oxford, George RR Martin said that this was the case « seven series that are in different stages of development » (via Westerosorg). You know at least one since the Max platform released a first trailer for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”. This Game of Thrones spin-off focuses on a young, naive knight, Ser Duncan the Great (Dunk), and his personal squire Aegon V Targaryen aka “The Egg”. A second one is also known, but almost never saw the light of day. Ten Thousand Ships, which tells the story of the warrior princess Nymeria of the Rhoynar after the destruction of her people by the Valyrian Empire, is back on track.
