On the occasion of the final of the second season of the last by us Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, the possibilities of returning to Joel spoke in the series for the next seasons.
This Sunday the second season of the last of us ended with the program of his seventh and last episode: “Convergence”. In fact, all eyes are already in season 3, the production of which should not begin before 2026. If we know that, like the diagram of the last one by us Part 2, this will now focus on the history of Abby, which does not prevent some from asking a big question: Will we have the opportunity to see Pedro Pascal, Aka Joel in the future?
A potential return from Joel to the last of us?
If Joel should usually no longer occur for obvious reasons, the fans are still extremely numerous to hope that the character of the character one day is mentioned by a number of new flashbacks. Although his past is mentioned several times in both seasons as smugglers, it is never really shown. For many, there are therefore to do for many in the twenty years that flow between the introduction of the pilot episode and the rest of the series.
Unfortunately, as Screenrant shows, Neil Druckmann provided at a press conference that was organized for the final of the second season that nothing was immediately planned on this topic. No more than every return from Joel to the universe of the last of us. As in its many comments, the creator of the franchise does not completely close the door to such an option.
“I think that … it is always a good thing to leave part of the secret to have the public used with his imagination to fill the whites. From time to time, we draw from these secrets when they are important for the story we run. So they should never tell me …”

A surprise has arrived so quickly
Remarks that were then supported by Craig Mazin, director of the series, added that the events of the second season of the last of us would be particularly difficult to integrate such an intrigue. But as he then states: “But I think that we will probably have more flexibility next season. And you know that we love a little detour through Indonesia, it is one of our favorite..
An astonishing statement, we will not lie what Druckmann makes to add to add: “Listen, I never thought that we would have a little story about Joel's father before writing the season. We can't predict something like this.”. In summary, nothing is impossible. But if it should actually happen, there is still a safe bet that it is not before a potential season 4. Because it looks, the presence of Joel does not really have a meaning or relevance in the context of the third season.
