The new The Walking Dead games are real industrial accidents. Faced with the failure of a title released this year, the studio decided to stop everything.
Even though “The Walking Dead” series is still as popular as the comics, things are much more complicated when it comes to video game adaptations. And especially in the last few weeks with the game of shame: TWD Destinies. A software that pushes the boundaries of mediocrity and has turned off Steam users. Still, let’s recognize the 187 people who tried the adventure and left their opinions despite the numerous warning signs in the trailers. But this is not the only current production that will end in the abyss of failed games.
This The Walking Dead game will never be released in its final version
After The Walking Dead: Destinies, a new game from the cult license is in turmoil. Which ? Treason. A TPS in isometric view that can accommodate up to 8 players, survivors who must do everything to avoid being eaten by zombies. Essentially, the title was released in Early Access on Steam… and it will remain in that state forever. Publisher Skybound Games and studio Other Ocean Interactive have announced that development will not continue and that The Walking Dead Betrayal will even be removed from the Valve platform very soon.
After exploring various avenues, numerous discussions and considerations, Skybound Games and Other Ocean Interactive have decided to discontinue development of The Walking Dead Betrayal. Despite the teams’ hard work on the game, we couldn’t find a way to build a vibrant community like we originally envisioned.
Starting December 11th, we will begin removing the game from Steam. Then on December 15th we will finish the title. All players who purchased it will receive a full refund. Thanks to everyone who played, revealed and gave feedback! Your support and commitment are very important to us. We look forward to bringing you more The Walking Dead experiences in the future.
Over steam.
Despite the failure of The Walking Dead Betrayal, which received very mixed reviews, the studio appears to be preparing to exploit the franchise in one way or another in the coming years. A strange statement after announcing the end of a game that had only been around for four months. The good news is that buyers can get a refund for their purchase. How ? Two scenarios:
- You have purchased TWD Betrayal directly on Steam: you must follow the instructions Refund Procedure traditional. No trap, it’s explained and it’s very easy to win your case with Valve
- You purchased TWD Betrayal through another reseller: However, here you have to contact the reseller’s customer service in the hope that The Walking Dead Betrayal will be refunded in the end
