A new film is coming soon to Netflix that will undoubtedly please One Piece fans. We’re even treated to an eye-catching first trailer.
The list of arrivals for the month of January 2024 on Netflix could make viewers’ mouths water. And soon the platform will welcome a new major addition. The latter will mainly talk to fans about a very specific work, that of One Piece. For good reason, we are dealing with the adaptation of a story written by none other than Eiichiro Oda, author of the adventures of Luffy and his band of merry men. We have everything, a first trailer, a release date and the hype that accompanies this information.
A very solid innovation for Netflix
The film in question coming to Netflix is called Monster: The Flying Dragon’s Hell with 103 Passions. Yes, that’s also the name of the giant attack that Zoro uses against King in One Piece during the Wano arc. You will quickly understand that there is actually a connection between the two. In fact, Monsters was released in 1994 Shonen Jump Fall Special, when Oda was only 19 years old. The story was then republished in 1998 in a collection of short stories compiled by the famous author: Wanted!.
So it’s the perfect time to discover a much lesser-known work by Oda. Also note that the anecdote is a prequel to One Piece. Monsters are actu ally considered part of this universe, which was revealed in “Thriller Bark” (hence the name of Zoro’s attack, as he is an ancestor of the film’s main character). Between the live action, the release of the anime on Netflix, the announcement of the remake and the success of the manga, we can say that the fans of this monument are doing well lately. In any case, here is the Monsters synopsis to give you an idea of what to expect:
In times of peace, only one thing can disrupt the peaceful flow of time: the “fear” that dances in the sky. This fear, which could mean the complete destruction of the Earth, actually manifested itself through the appearance of a dragon. MONSTERS takes us into the epic samurai Ryuma. After a long hike, Ryuma finally reaches a town where Flare, a young girl, saves him from starvation. However, the samurai becomes involved in a dragon attack on this city.

Who is responsible? What about the release date?
To oversee this anime, we’re dealing with none other than Sunghoo Park. The latter also worked on Jujutsu Kaisen and Garo Vanishing Line, so he has a pretty solid resume. He will shoot the film at his studio E&H Production. As for the character design, we owe it to Takashi Kojiima, who you may have heard of thanks to his contribution to works like Flip Flappers or Heike Monogatari. As for the release date, you won’t have to wait long. In fact, “Monsters” arrives on Netflix and ADN on January 21st at 4 p.m. Don’t miss this appointment.
