One of the strangest and most anticipated games of 2025 is already free to play on Steam.
We are already approaching the end of the year and are ready to start a new year that we hope will be better in many ways. When it comes to video games, many very big games are expected in 2025, including GTA 6 of course, but also Monster Hunter Wildsthe new DOOM or even Borderlands 4, to name a few. Other, more niche games are also expected, some of which have even piqued our curiosity. One of them is now free to play on Steam thanks to a trial version that is also available on consoles.
A fascinating and highly anticipated game that you can try for free on Steam
After the excellent This war of mine that left its mark when it was released, 11 Bit Studios is taking on a completely different genre with its next game, The Alter is expected in the first quarter of 2025 for PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as for PS5 and Xbox Series. Like the studio's previous game, we're still talking about survival in a desperate universe, but this time we're leaving reality and looking into an equally hostile future. We play a man who survives his ship crashing on a planet that clearly doesn't want him. Housed in a mobile base, the man has almost everything he needs to survive, except he has no crew to keep all systems running smoothly until he discovers technology that allows him to create duplicates of to create yourself.
From then on, it's up to you to manage your clone crew, taking into account their skills and personalities. The Alter is one of the most anticipated exciting games of next year. While I wait for the release, The Alter is currently free to play on Steam by walking the games page. A trial version that will allow you to try out the gameplay and discover a little of this atypical universe. Note that There is also a test version of The Alter for console players and thus also enables a free approach.
