A new series is coming soon to Disney+ that promises to be refreshing for all subscribers. If you use the service, this is clearly an indispensable program.
Disney+ is one of the SVOD platforms that has been on everyone’s lips for several years. It faces other services like Netflix or Amazon Prime and we can therefore say that the competition is tough. Nevertheless, the catalog offered here can be attractive, with programs for all ages. Also, there will be a series coming soon and we advise you not to ignore it. For good reason, it could cause a surprise and become a huge success.
A new series is coming to Disney+, it’s promising
This is Shōgun, a miniseries produced by FX Productions and overseen by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks. The first two episodes will be released exclusively on Disney+ on January 27th, with the other eight following weekly. In reality, it is an adaptation of James Clavell’s book from 1975. It was a huge success at the time, which should give an idea of the quality of the story. But then what is it about?
The story takes place in feudal Japan, more specifically in the year 1600, when a civil war was brewing in the country. We follow the adventures of John Blackthorne, a British sailor who washes up on the Japanese coast with his crew. Then he will discover another culture and find himself in a conflict on a scale he could never have imagined. The English commander even goes so far as to become a samurai, but we won’t go into more detail about that. A little surprise doesn’t hurt anyone. But for now, you’ll have to be patient, even though it’s coming to Disney+ soon.
By the way: Some of you may have already heard about it. For good reason, a miniseries adapting the novel appeared in the early 1980s, which consisted of 10 episodes and told the same story. It goes without saying that we are dealing with something different here. Not necessarily in terms of the scenario itself, but more in terms of direction and direction. Technologies have evolved and this will be a good way to rediscover Shōgun from a different perspective. On the other hand, as explained above, it is only available on Disney+.
A big box approaching?
When we talk about a potential hit, it’s not just because of the Japanese cast that promises wonders. In fact, we’re not used to seeing releases like this on Disney+. You only have to look at what’s new for January 2024 to see that. There are, among other things, Marvel, documentaries that sometimes deal with quite hard topics, or well-known films and series that are coming to the service for the first time. But a setting like Shōgun’s, accompanied by a story in the style of a historical drama? It is a little rarer, so it can attract the attention of a majority of viewers. Please note that we did not say that this was unusual, just that it was not an ordinary arrival on the platform.
