Despite the high expectations, Redfall’s launch was pretty chaotic. Worse still, it didn’t really live up to the quality that one might expect from such a production in 2023.
On May 1st, 2023 we had the right to release redfall on PC and Xbox Series and it’s a fact: it missed launch and for a number of reasons. At first, the game leaves a bitter aftertaste and an impression of incompleteness and incompleteness. Secondly, the FPS is sorely lacking in optimization and thirdly, there are numerous bugs. A horror triptych for any video game that has enough to drive gamers insane. For this reason Arkane Studios offers us a patch to try to solve the problems.
Redfall: a patch to the rescue?
Studio Arkane Austin has released its first major patch for its cooperative shooter redfall, which promises improvements in several areas, including the gameplay in particular, but also the artificial intelligence that is still largely perceptible. But as strange as it may sound, from the promised 60FPS mode for the Xbox Series what for? A second disappointment that players point out without hesitation. In its patch note, Arkane happily states:
Today’s release is just our first patch and introduces many incremental fixes that will improve Redfall. As soon as it becomes available, we will publish more information about future updates. including our 60fps performance mode, on our official social channels
A glimmer of hope
Thankfully, not everything has been black on the blackboard since then Four key areas will benefit from the patch with better quality: the responsiveness of the AI, the frequency of encounters with the enemy, the effectiveness of the fight against vampires and the improvement in graphics rendering. The full list of fixes is long and includes gameplay, combat, AI, NPCs, environment, performance, UI, multiplayer and general stability. What the PC version lacked in particular was that it was plagued by various and varied framerate drop issues. For the full list of changes see the official site
We hope that everything will return to normal soon, because let’s remember that the start was so bad that Xbox officially reacted on the matter, with a statement from Phil Spencer (Xbox boss), who is responsible for the condition of the game excused. So that’s it. It’s easy to imagine the pressure that was on the shoulders of the development studio, but also Bethesda, which probably didn’t leave enough development time for the game.
