While they wait for The War Within, World of Warcraft players can enjoy Remix, a limited-time event that reshuffles the decks of Blizzard’s legendary MMO. We got a chance to ask the developers about it.
As a reminder, Remix offers to revisit the popular Mists of Pandaria expansion as part of World of Warcraft Dragonflight. Not only does it offer radically different and hectic gameplay, but it’s also a great way to prepare characters for The War Within while collecting nice gifts for your main account. Here’s what Brian Dowling and Ciji Brambrick, developers we were able to interview and veterans of Blizzard’s legendary MMO before working on it, had to tell us about this event available until August 20.
A remix of temporality in World of Warcraft
After 20 years of extremely rich history, World of Warcraft has plenty to tell and experiences to offer its players. While the adventures on Dragonflight seem to have come to an end, while waiting for The War Within, the heroes of Azeroth can revisit a popular expansion of the MMO without going through the prism of Classic.
With the Remix event, Blizzard offers to return to the world of Pandaren with the gameplay of Dragonflight. We will therefore play a time traveler who can easily be a Drachtyr from Dragonflight or a demon hunter of the Legion. On the back of our dragon we can explore this world from a new perspective that we unlock when we get a new character at level 10. The idea is to be able to replay all the PvE content of Mists of Pandaria at high speed. To do this, over the course of the event, players will be able to develop a cloak and gems that they can incorporate into their equipment, giving them indecent stats strong and gaining power quickly.
Brian Dowling actually told us: “ You become so powerful that you can tackle high-level dungeons while your character is level 10. The idea of Remix is to offer a remake of a very popular expansion in a fun and hassle-free way. However, there is a challenge for experienced players, including Mythical Dungeons, which they can completely destroy on their own with a well-developed build. ».
Several reasons to travel back in time with Remix
In addition to offering a refreshing way to reconnect with Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft Remix aims to encourage experienced and new players to participate for several reasons. On the one hand, according to Brian Dowling, it’s a great way to introduce several new characters very quickly. The most determined can reach the maximum level set at 70 in just a few hours, preserving their progress in the base game and ready for The War Within, the MMO’s next major expansion. The same goes for those who are interested in unlocking achievements.
Remix also presents a unique currency: Bronze. This can be obtained during the event or by recycling unused gems. It allows you to purchase various items such as mounts or cosmetics that will be kept after the event ends, as Ciji Brambrick told us. So collectors or players who want to have different characters ready for The War Within have a lot to do in Remix.
Parallel to the beta of World of Warcraft The War Within and Cataclysm Classic
Remix is by nature a temporary event that keeps players busy from time to time, as Brian Dowling told us. Remember that Cataclysm Classic was released on May 20th. We also asked the developers about their plans for the next Classic expansion, which logically will be Mists of Pandaria, which we can currently revisit in Remix. Brian Dowling unfortunately had nothing to say on the subject.
The same observation applies to The War Within, the next major expansion for World of Warcraft. As a reminder, the latter’s beta is available to interested players today, with release scheduled for later in the year. Between Cataclysm Classic, Remix, and the new expansion’s beta, adventurers of Azeroth definitely have a lot to look forward to this summer.
