Both Link and Mario are scheduled to land on the Nintendo Switch 2 in a big way in 2025.
Anyone who thought that the constant leaks surrounding the Switch 2 would come to an end after the official unveiling of the console will now find out that this is not the case. It wasn't until January 22, 2025 that a new potential leak took place, which we are classifying for you.
The prominent main actors this time: Link from The Legend of Zelda and Mario from… well, the Super Mario games. If the information circulating is correct, we should see them both again very soon.
What kind of leak is this?
The source of the new alleged game information is the website Newegg. This is a mail order company for consumer electronics, games and hardware.

Nintendo eShop gift vouchers can also be purchased on Newegg. Now it gets exciting: Newegg counts so that the grandmas and grandpas out there also know what their grandchildren can buy with the credit in the product description kindly listed some titles that are still scheduled to appear in 2025.
The list meanwhile said the following:
What’s special about this list: A few hours ago, the new 3D Mario and the Zelda Remaster/Remake were removed from the list. The Original image but you can still find it on Reddit. It's quite possible that Nintendo sent its ninjas to Newegg. However, this measure did not necessarily make the leak less credible.
Is there a remake of Ocarina of Time coming?
We can deal with the Italian plumber and proud mustachioed man in just a few sentences. It is no surprise that in addition to the new Mario Kart that has already been shown, there is also a fresh 3D adventure coming as a successor to Super Mario Odyssey. It is rumored that Nintendo is preparing the release for the Christmas season, similar to what was the case with Odyssey.
The timelessly good Super Mario Odyssey is already eight years old. So it's high time for a successor!
The mention of the Zelda remake/remaster is much more exciting. There are two possibilities here that have been floating around in the rumor mill for many months:
- The Switch 2 gets what has long been expected Remastered versions of The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HDwhich have so far only been released for the outdated Wii U. An announcement of the remaster has been expected for the Switch 1 for a good two years. Nintendo may now want to ignite the fan boost directly on the Switch 2.
- Nintendo fires the nostalgia rocket at us and brings in a Remake of the legendary Ocarina of Timeto properly usher in the Switch 2 era. Just recently, an insider promised big announcements for this winter – with OoT link as image.
Another explanation for this Insider knowledge
of Newegg could of course also be that it was simply an employee's nightly fantasy that he lived out while typing the product description. Nintendo fans among us can understand him, right?!
What would you rather be happy about? A new 3D Mario or a major remake of a The Legend of Zelda adventure? Feel free to write it to us in the comments!
