The new game from Soulsborne masters From Software is currently breaking all records on Twitch and Steam. Elden Ring was played on Valve’s gaming platform by 764,835 players at the same time almost three hours after the release – that’s six times more than the indirect predecessor Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
At almost the same time, 908,687 people were watching them on Twitch, surpassing their previous viewership highs by a factor of 3. A remarkable success, which is now, however, from the mixed steam ratings is clouded. The reason is mostly technical problems.
How was our experience? We also encountered some technical problems, which we have prepared for you in our technology check. Unfortunately, due to the shortcomings we observed, we couldn’t resist giving Elden Ring a downgrade in our in-depth review:

The second highest rating in GameStar history
What does From Software say about the problems? In the meantime, there is also a first official statement from the developer about the problems. In this article you can find out which technical defects are at the top of the to-do list. But first, let’s take a look at the issues being reported by affected players.
Players report these technical defects
The technical problems do not affect or bother all players by any means, but some topics can be found again and again in the Steam reviews:
- FPS drops in large open areas
- Micro stutters and generally low FPS despite strong hardware
- Control problems when using the keyboard
- Controllers that are not recognized
- Easy-Anti-Cheat prevent mods and community fixes
- Regular crashes
So reported For example, one of those affected said that even with a Geforce RTX 3080, he had difficulties maintaining a stable 60 FPS at a resolution of 1920×1080. Another complained about still images and unresponsive buttons, which made the already rock-hard boss fights even more difficult.
