Joaquin Phoenix is taking on a new big role
Expected on November 22nd, Napoleon promises to be one of the cinematic events of 2023. Directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, etc.) and produced by Apple TV+, the feature film will feature an Emperor who is described as a lover. a tyrant and a legend. In this biopic, which traces the origins and rise of the famous historical figure, the British filmmaker focused on Napoleon’s rise to power, albeit through the prism of his relationship with Josephine, his wife. Among the other well-known heads we will find Vanessa Kirby in the role of Josephine, while Tahar Rahim will play the character of Paul Barras, a close friend of the Emperor and former lover of Josephine. Written by David Scarpa, to whom we owe (among other things) three episodes of The Master of the High Castle, Napoleon was intended to be a grand epic fresco, as the film’s opening frames seem to indicate. In particular, we can see the Emperor confronting the Sphinx of Giza.
Major battles at the heart of Napoleon’s conspiracy?
Filming on Napoleon began in March 2022 in Lincoln, England and has been the subject of extensive logistics. The reason ? According to film specialists, the film would contain no less than six major combat sequences. To film the Lincoln Cathedral sequences, production worked for a week to ensure no element was missed. In fact, the film crew only had two days, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., to implement all the plans.
