The release of titles on consoles that have long been considered retro now no longer surprises anyone. But Super NES and other Mega Drives are common because no one expected a new one to be announced on … Wii U.
The anniversary will certainly be less well known than the 20th anniversary of the launch of Xbox or GameCube in the US, and yet, this November 18th actually marks the ninth anniversary of the Wii U’s launch in North America, and you all had forgotten about it . Well done.
The number 9
Fortunately, not everyone is as carefree as you are. The proof: the independent studio Ultra Dolphin Revolution (or how to put three hardware code names in one and the same name) Today we’re releasing a new game exclusive to Nintendo’s cursed consolebecause there are some who are not afraid of anything. Captain U, that’s his name, is out next month:
This decidedly retro platform game will thus be the ninth Wii U game from the studio, which mainly delivered Real Men Use Items! in 2019.
Captain U is a classic 2D platformer that offers some twists and turns and a lot of tributes. The game itself is a loving parody of our own Wii U games.
Straight to U
To traverse nine levels of old-fashioned platforms, the eponymous Captain U will use his supreme weapon (and undoubtedly a small meta): the PowerPad, a device that allows him to create platforms, move, and even defeat enemies. Too bad the few visuals Ultra Dolphin Revolution revealed, however, don’t allow you to see the gun in action.
Anyone who has not yet put the console with the two screens in the closet will surely be happy to find out Captain U will be available in the Wii U eShop next December. Better: one of the last (?) Games on the console costs only 2.99 dollarsjust to carefully close the clamp. Ah, and a happy ninth birthday!
Are you going to use this impromptu exit to bring your Wii U out? Besides, is it still connected? Let us know what you think about the co-sponsors on the second screen below.
