A new handheld gaming console has been officially announced ahead of CES 2025 with a snazzy new trailer, and it's not the Nintendo Switch 2. No, it's a throwback trend from the past in a shiny, modern form. Atari game console Go!

In a snazzy yet brief trailer, we got a full look at the handheld device. It has some of the features you'd expect – like triggers and four face buttons – but there are also some retro hardware options, like a keyboard and Trak-Ball. This way you can play a variety of old classic games.

While this may seem like a surprise to many, this isn't the first time we've heard about this console. An early version of the Gamestation Go (then called the Gamestation Portable) was available for testing at last year's CES. Atari even sent 3D printed models of the console to select influencers to communicate the type of product package it was developing.

We dropped a hint at the beginning of this article, but it's clearly an exciting time in the handheld console market. While the Gamestation Go and Nintendo Switch 2 don't appeal to exactly the same market (Atari is obviously primarily following the Go's retro fans), both Gamestation Go and Nintendo Switch 2 illustrate the desire for large, portable consoles that can run a variety of games. .

All we have so far is a teaser, but you can almost certainly expect more information about the console once CES 2025 kicks off next week. If you'd like more news about Atari Gamesstation GO, let us know!
