Baldur's Gate 3 welcomes another new update that should change a lot of things for many players as they wait for the big Patch 8.
Therefore, we shouldn't expect a huge patch for Baldur's Gate 3, but rather a more modest hotfix. More precisely, it is the 29th in this range, this time specifically aimed at consoles and closely linked to the famous patch 7, which introduces support for mods. Here's what's changing and what might motivate aspiring roleplayers to return to the Forgotten Realms on PS5 and Xbox Series.
Major modification on consoles for Baldur's Gate 3
Last week, Larian Studios rolled out a special hotfix for the console versions of Baldur's Gate 3. This had introduced a limit of 100 mods to avoid instability problems. This therefore prevented PS5 and Xbox Series players from being able to restart their saves with a mod count above this limit. However, for those who wait, everything will come in good time, as Hotfix 29, which we are interested in here, simply removes this limitation.
If you happen to have a game of Baldur's Gate 3 with more than 100 mods, you should be able to get back to it now. Otherwise, unfortunately nothing will change for you as a result of this update. Aside from that, Larian also provides some recommendations for replaying a particularly modified save on consoles. Update required, some previously installed mods may no longer work now. Therefore, it is imperative to add them one by one to your mod library or even download newer versions. There is a risk of crashes or stability problems.
If you have a save with fewer than 100 mods, incompatibility issues with this new hotfix could also wreak havoc on the console versions of Baldur's Gate 3 while you wait for modders to update their creations. To avoid potentially destroying your game, Larian recommends starting it with mods from the following categories first, as they generally have little impact:
- Dice skins
- Facial cosmetics
- Mods that add items
