The PC port of God of War Ragnarok will be released on September 14th. A first comparison has now been made to identify the differences to the PS5 version.
In the absence of other elements, this comparison is based on the announcement trailer for the PC version of God of War Ragnarok presented during the last State of Play, so let’s see how Jetpack Interactive fared with this port of a Sony flagship exclusive compared to its PS5 version.
A significant improvement over the PC version of God of War Ragnarok?
God of War Ragnarok is already very beautiful on PS5 and should basically take advantage of the PC to give us a masterful fatherly slap in the face. Full use of the platform’s much more robust hardware, technologies from NVIDIA, AMD and Intel, as well as an unlocked framerate and support for ultrawide displays should show off Kratos and Atreus at their best.
From this first comparison video, the differences between the two versions don’t seem so obvious. However, we do notice much better ambient occlusion on PC, as well as finer lighting. Otherwise, the PS5 version seems to be about on par. However, we’ll be able to understand all this better when the PC port is officially released on September 14th.
At least on condition that you connect your game to the PlayStation Network, the use of which is mandatory despite the exclusively single-player nature of God of War Ragnarok. This means, then, that, as in particular with Concord, whose success seems to have had a bad start even before its release, the title will not be available in the 170 or so countries where the PSN does not exist. So let’s hope that this PC port is at least of high quality. However, let’s remember that we owe the PC version of The Last of Us Part I to Jetpack Interactive… with the post-apocalyptic result that we know from its release.
