Nvidia released one of its new GeForce Ready drivers today. The driver listens to the Version number 531.41. The special feature: The driver is optimized for the open beta for the long-awaited Diablo 4 – which starts tomorrow. Furthermore, the driver offers optimizations for the upcoming Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode from Cyberpunk 2077 and for the upcoming update of the racing game Forza Horizon 5.
You can find out exactly which optimizations go hand in hand with the 531.41 driver below.
Diablo 4
So how will the driver impact the Diablo 4 open beta?
Thanks to the driver, users whose computers are equipped with a GeForce RTX can activate DLSS 2 (Super Resolution). DLSS 3 (Frame Generation) should also be available from the release of Diablo 4.
Cyberpunk 2077
The Nvidia driver also supports the upcoming Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode for Cyberpunk 2077. This mode is scheduled to be released on April 11th as part of a technology preview. That release happens as part of update 1.62 for Cyberpunk.
By the way: A detailed overview of which games support DLSS (and which do not) was reported to you by colleague Alexander Köpf in a separate article. Worth a click for those interested!
Game developer CD Projekt and graphics card manufacturer Nvidia recently informed users about the functions of Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode for Cyberpunk.
- Nvidia RTX Direct Illumination (RTXDI): gives accurate ray-traced lighting to neon signs, streetlights, car headlights, LED billboards, and TVs. This is joined by a realistic shadow cast. According to the manufacturer, the function allows passing cars and strolling pedestrians to be immersed in detailed, colored lighting.
- Indirect lighting and reflections with ray tracing: Indirect lighting is thrown back several times. Previously, indirect lighting was only simply thrown back. This should make lighting effects even more realistic (including optimized global illumination and improved reflections)
- Ray traced reflections: these are rendered in full resolution
- The lighting is based more on physical laws: This renders other occlusion techniques obsolete.
Forza Horizon 5
A DLSS-3 for the racing game Forza Horizon 5 is to be released on March 28th. Nvidia’s 531.41 driver is also optimized for this. In the nearly one-minute video below, Forza Horizon 5 players can see what graphical grab bag is in the upcoming March update.
