The folks at Tech4Gamers were first to report two job listings indicating that another Star Wars Jedi game is already in development.
Following up on 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor came out in April to positive reviews. So it does make perfect sense for EA to consider launching another installment in Cal Kestis’ adventure; I just doubt many of us were expecting to hear about it so soon.
The first of two job listings to appear on EA’s career portal is for Senior VFX Artist, specifically for “Star Wars Jedi.” The second position is Senior Combat Designer on the Star Wars team; however, this is specifically for the Respawn Entertainment team behind Star Wars Jedi.
The first list is particularly interesting because it requires experience with Unreal Engine 4, and mentions that experience with Unreal Engine 5 is also an advantage. Does this mean the next Star Wars Jedi game will use Unreal Engine 5? We can hope.
In an excerpt from an IGN Unfiltered interview with director Stig Asmussen, they declare, “I’ve always wanted to see this as a trilogy.” Given the general success of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, it seems likely that a third game will already be approved and headed straight into development. The turnaround between Fallen Order and Survivor is four years, though, so we’ve got a while to wait.
Still, new job listings that have popped up should be taken with a grain of salt. They can be something or nothing. Still, it does seem like we’ll be seeing more of Carl Kestis in the future. What do you think of the third Star Wars Jedi game?
When you were playing, did you watch any of Ubisoft’s Star Wars games? Star Wars Outlaws looks like fun too, and is due out in 2024. It looks set to entertain the legions of Star Wars fans who are waiting for the new Jedi series, that’s for sure.
