It’s already been a year since the first open-world action role-playing game in the Harry Potter universe was released. To celebrate the occasion, the developers have released some amazing statistics.
Hogwarts Legacy was one of the most anticipated games of 2023. Although the software wasn’t even presented at the Game Awards 2023, it became the biggest commercial success of the year with more than 24 million units sold, which is more important than Zelda Tears of The Kingdom or the last Call of Duty. It must be said that this is the first game in the license of such scale. Franchise that reaches many people, including more casual gamers. The developers have anticipated this by making Hogwarts Legacy very accessible. These 24 million players were able to explore the surroundings of Hogwarts and we can say that they did something with it. This is evident from the statistics that the developers published on the occasion of the first anniversary of the release.
Amazing stats for Hogwarts Legacy
In fact, the developers had fun collecting player actions in Hogwarts Legacy and the numbers are insane. For example, more than 5.3 billion spiders were eradicated, and arachnophobes were able to have fun in the forbidden forest. In total, magicians spent 740 million on the game, all platforms combined. There are of course many other fun statistics:
- 877 million potions were created
- 1.38 billion plants were harvested
- 637 million magical beasts were captured
- 425 million Merlin cases have been solved
- 5.25 billion black assistants were defeated
- There were 783 million stealth attacks
- 375 million trolls were defeated in Hogwarts Legacy
- 51 million of those hours were spent flying broomsticks
- 3.05 billion fast travel activated
Which house was chosen the most?
Surprisingly, it is not Gryffindor who wins, but Slytherin, who have gained the favor of 30% of Hogwarts Legacy players. Belonging to this house is more than attractive in a game when you know that it has housed the most powerful wizards. However, the house of Harry Potter is not far behind at 29%. In third place is Hufflepuff with 24%. A house that is often made fun of, but which still doesn’t take last place. The spot goes to Ravenclaw with 17% of players.
To top it all off, the developers had a little surprise in store. They showed their self-deprecation by showing us a “blooper” video with the funniest mistakes that occurred during the game’s development. Here it is below:
As for the sequel, there’s no real news about a second effort, other than the near certainty that there will be one. In an interview with Variety, Warner President David Haddad spoke about more immersive future experiences. What better way to do this than video games. In the meantime, witch fans can look forward to Quidditch Champions, a broom flying game coming later this year.
