When the Geforce RTX 4090 was unveiled, Nvidia presented us with benchmark results that promised 8K gaming suitability. According to the tech company, games like Apex Legends and Lost Ark run on the monitor at over 60 frames per second even in 7680×4320 pixels.
Is this the next step in gaming? Nvidia shows benchmarks in utopian 8K resolution
If that’s impressive to you, you’d better sit down before reading on. Because the Youtuber Golden Reviewer
took it to the extreme and Genshin Impact in the insane resolution of 13760 x 5760 Pixel gambled. So we’re talking about a 13K resolution here or, to further delight the number foxes among you, about 79.2 megapixels.
Does the game still run smoothly? You can get an idea of this for yourself:

If you look closely, you will even notice that not only the highest graphics settings were selected, but also a render resolution of 1.5x was set. This means that the internal resolution at which the GPU works is even higher than 13K. Nevertheless, the RTX 4090 manages an average of 30 frames per second. Golden Reviewer’s overall system specifications are as follows:
- Processor: Intel Gen Core i7-10700KF
- Mainboard: Asus Prime Z490-P motherboard
- Random access memory: 64GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 RAM
- Graphic card: MSI GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G GPU
- Storage: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB
80 megapixel screenshots for virtual photographers
Gaming at such high resolutions is still not practical in more demanding titles, even with an RTX 4090. So why push a game to 13K resolution? The reason might be interesting for you: Ultra high resolution screenshots.
Each frame has a resolution of around 79.2 megapixels and is therefore around 86 MB in size. That’s a massive amount of detail captured in every screenshot. So the RTX 4090 should be very interesting for virtual photographers who like to go on expeditions through open game worlds with the photo mode.
The RTX 4090 is and remains an expensive toy. If you are interested in one of the new high-end cards, then take a look at our test, in which we put the card through its paces:
