The Playstation 5 Pro will be available on the market in about a month. Since then, there has been a lot of discussion about both the price and the technical upgrade that will be achieved with the new console. The tech experts at Digital Foundry have already analyzed eleven games that run under the “Pro Enhanced” seal in the past few weeks.
In a separate conclusion, the Digital Foundry is now also examining the question of whether the upgrade to the PS5 Pro is worth it. A comparison is also made to PC graphics cards.

»A good investment for performance fans«
Basically, many advantages in ray tracing, native resolution and stable frame rates emerged in all games tested thanks to the improved hardware and the PSSR feature (“PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution”).
For this target group that values the highest possible performance, the PS5 Pro is a good investment.
On the other hand, however, there are PlayStation players who previously let their games roam across the screen in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. The “visual quality in the basic model” is already sufficient here, so this target group should probably stay away from the Pro console.
Compared to the classic gaming PC, the value of the PlayStation 5 Pro can of course be debated. By the way, shortly after the Sony console was unveiled, we also tried to create a computer that was as close to the PS5 Pro as possible.

PS5 forecast: Are price hammers and game flops really that bad?
According to Digital Foundry, the PS5 Pro is “a strong option, especially when you consider the cost compared to a PC.” To do this, the tech experts use a comparison for PC gamers when they buy a new graphics card.
As a result, the increase between the base console and PS5 Pro is roughly comparable to the jump from the RTX 3060 to the RTX 4070. Of course, games benefit differently from the increased performance – which is partly due to the implementation on the part of the developers – but features like PSSR also provide more options than can be seen from the pure data sheet.
What do you think of the PS5 Pro? Have your feelings calmed down as a result of the price shock and are you looking forward to the console or are you not considering it in the long term?
