The Odyssey addon for Elite: Dangerous planned for 2021 is late due to the ongoing corona pandemic. On the pc falls the postponement but not quite as brutal as on the consoles.
The new release plan
The team does not give any exact dates, but they do give rough time periods for the planned release of the individual versions.
- Alpha: The start of the Alpha is delayed a little and will now start in early spring 2021. However, not all new features will be available at the beginning. They will be introduced gradually.
- PC-Release: According to current plans, the alpha phase shouldn’t last too long. The correct release is planned for late spring 2021.
- Console version: The consoles are hardest hit by the move. The release for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One will not take place until autumn 2021.
What does Odyssey deliver?
The developer announced the Odyssey add-on in mid-2020. The biggest change is that with the release of the expansion you are no longer chained to your vehicle. Your character can look like this in the future stretch your legs on the surface of the planet. Previously, exploration was only possible with the Scarab vehicle.
