Change in the cast
3 long years. This is the time that has passed between Season 1 of Hellbound
and its future second part. Yes, fans have been waiting for a long time to get the sequel to their South Korean fantasy series. It came to Netflix’s catalog on November 19, 2021, riding the wave of Squid gamepublished two months ago. The second season of Hellbound picks up where the first part left us. It is a world where people face their own death at the hands of mysterious creatures. We find the angels of death again and more and more victims. But the rumor of a possible resurrection is making more and more noise.
This series is therefore aimed at fans of thrillers and the supernatural. On the bill we find the same two creators, Sang-Ho Yeon (Last train to Busan
) and Kyu-Seok Choi, who are a guarantee of quality for this new season. But the main character has changed. In the trailer we notice that the character Jeong Jin-soo is no longer played by Yoo Ah-in, but by Kim Seong-cheol. In fact, the series’ ex-actor was recently sentenced to a year in prison for drug use, a serious crime in South Korea. Don’t panic, his successor is already known in Korean cinema as he starred in the K-drama Goodbye Earthalso available on Netflix.
In the other direction
In 2021 it is the release of the Squid game that captivated the whole world. So two months later Hellbound
which attracted many spectators. The Korean series even receives more than 97% positive opinions on Rotten Tomatoes and a rating of 66/100 from specialist media on Metacritic. Very good results for a franchise that appeared shortly after the global success of Squid Game. For comparison: the latter received 95% positive reviews. But in 2024 the opposite will happen. Actually season 2 of Hellbound will be released on October 25th, while the sequel to Squid game will not be added to the Netflix catalog until December 26, 2024. We let you form your own opinion!
