Gaming News After the hacker attack, Rockstar is still in turmoil with GTA 6: The leaks about Bully 2 and Grand Theft Auto are piling up
Since December 24th, the source code of GTA 5, parts of the code of GTA 6 and files with the name Bully 2 have appeared on the Internet. A year after the hack, Rockstar is still in turmoil.
GTA 5: One year of source code in the wild
In recent months, major technology companies have been the subject of massive cyberattacks. Last year, Rockstar was the subject of a hacker attack. A lot of data is then found on the Internet. The ones making the most noise are obvious all 90 gameplay sequences
There was also talk of part of the GTA V source code at the time: something that was at least as important as gameplay sequences from Rockstar’s next game. The source code, which comes directly from the expertise of the developers, allows a machine (computers, consoles, etc.) to display on the screen what the player will see. It therefore contains a lot of valuable data: getting your hands on the source code means being able to understand the logic and philosophy of a studio. Enough to then be able to reproduce them or even bypass them.
The source code is there fore something very important and yet the one from GTA 5, which is apparently in the wild, is no longer making headlines a few days after the Rockstar hack. But in the last few hours, some have claimed that the entire source code of GTA 5 has been found on the Internet. But not only.
Rockstar: a New Year’s Eve in turmoil
Fun New Year’s Eve for Rockstar. On the evening of December 24th Some sources state that the entire source code of GTA 5 would have been broadcast on the Internet. There are still questions about how this would be found on the web today. With him ? Python code from the GTA 6 game as well as files called Bully 2. A sequel to the game Canis Canem Edit was once planned at Rockstar before it was abandoned in favor of the Red Dead Redemption license. Enough to connect observed leaks last month regarding this second episode.
In any case, all of these hacking cases involving Rockstar and GTA continue to make headlines. If there is a significant probability that further data from the studio will end up on the Internet, the perpetrator of the cyber attack is actually convicted. The person, 18 years old, had committed this attack remotely from a hotel room monitored by police. Then on Thursday December 21, the BBC reported that the criminal “will remain in a secure hospital for life unless doctors consider that he is no longer a danger“.
