news culture After The Last of Us comes this PlayStation exclusive: here is the first image
Sony has big plans for its franchises on the big and small screens, it’s no secret. The next license offered in a TV series is none other than Twisted Metal, and besides, here’s a very first picture at last.
For the record, PlayStation Productions is a pretty specific Sony entity: their goal is to produce and adapt PlayStation franchises for cinema. We already owe him the film Uncharted or the series The Last of Us on HBO, for example, but many other flagship licenses are on the horizon.
For example Twisted Metal: Created by David Jaffe (the same man behind God of War, btw) with a first game released for PlayStation in 1995, the series had some old-time success before ending its run on PS3 in 2012 with an episode of mixed success.
Whatever for Sony: This TV series will be an opportunity to revitalize IP and it is the Peacock platform that inherited the project, in association with PlayStation Productions. The story will be that of a milk delivery boy, played by Anthony Mackie (Falcon in the MCU) who is mysteriously transported to an Ultra Nag universe where he must drive and crush his opponents in order to survive. Yes, Fortunately, the destruction derby aspect of video games remains.
Still in the cast, we’ll also note the presence of Thomas Haden Church (the Sandman in Spider-Man 3 and No Way Home), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Neve Campbell (Scream) or even the wrestler Samoa Joe. A very first poster can be found below.
And itinerary
This very first image with pink and explosive tones (almost festive?) can also be accompanied by an essential detail: the release date, which is set for July 27, 2023.
And speaking of cars and PlayStation, Keep in mind that a Gran Turismo movie is also on the way, here are some pictures of it. Sony has other very important projects in the works: a God of War series on Prime Video and a Horizon series on Netflix (who would benefit from the same preferential treatment as The Last of Us) or even The adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima, by the man behind John Wick, with an all-Japanese cast. A busy schedule.
