Season 2 of Squid Game will finally start on Netflix in 2024. We don’t yet know when exactly. The streaming service is slowly cranking up the advertising carousel in preparation for the new episodes of Hwang Dong-Hyuk’s series.

What to see now? Netflix has released four images for the second season and also a first scene. They show, among other things, Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-jae), who swore revenge on those responsible for the Squid Game at the end of season 1. That’s what the scene in which Gi-Hun a momentous decision

Two other returnees can also be seen in the photos: The Salesman (Gong Yoo) and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). Actress Park Gyu-young is also a new addition to the sequel to Squid Game.

There are no concrete details about the story of season 2 at the moment. The images shown at least indicate that Gi-Hun is taking part in the deadly games for a second time. And of course the Salesman, who recruited Gi-Hun for the Squid Game in the first season, could come into play.
A final trailer for Squid Game: Season 2 and an exact release date are currently still awaited. The new episodes are scheduled to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2024.
And if you’re wondering why the second season took so long to arrive: Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk only began developing the story shortly after the release of season 1. Neither he nor Netflix probably expected the groundbreaking success of Squid Game.
This meant that season 2 had to be written first, which is why filming was not completed until the end of 2023. Netflix revealed who is returning or joining the new episodes of Squid Game in the following video:
